Dr Marcus Tan
Marcus is a UWA medical graduate with an executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management. He is an experienced healthcare executive and company director with nearly 20 years of clinical and commercial experience. He is a Fellow of the AICD and serves on various health bodies including as a director and the eHealth Lead for the WA Primary Health Alliance, chairing the Metro South WA Primary Health Network, an executive council member of the AMA(WA), and is an Adjunct Associate Professor in Health Leadership & Management at Curtin University. He has previously held roles as a member of the Governing Council of the South Metro Area Health Service, a board director of Giving West and Chairman of Perth Central & East Metro Medicare Local.
Adam has been building internet businesses for over 15 years with a focus on consumer health; specialising in transaction and subscription-based revenue models. Adam is a champion for growth, first-principles thinking, MVPs and radical candour. Adam holds an LLB and B.Comm (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Western Australia.
Darius has over 10 years experience in product design and development, digital growth strategies, and mobile computing. He has architected and deployed service management software and high-traffic web and mobile applications with various companies including IBM and Microsoft, and created user acquisition and engagement strategies in media and technology sectors across North America and Australia. Recognised internationally as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for his contributions to the mobile industry, Darius holds a B.CompSci (Computation & Systems) from the University of Western Australia.
Daniel has 25 years of management, corporate advisory, finance and accounting experience across a range of listed and unlisted companies in Australia and overseas. He has extensive experience in managing the development of high growth and start-up companies in the digital, mining, real estate and financial services industries. He was responsible for the development and launch of helpmechoose.com.au, was CFO of ecorp Limited, a digital investment company that established eBay Australia and ninemsn (through joint ventures) as well as acquiring Ticketek and investing in the start-up of Wizard Mortgage Corporation. Daniel is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand and holds a B.Comm (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Western Australia.
Tara is a marketing and growth strategist who has worked with some of Australia’s largest retail businesses, transforming traditional bricks and mortar offerings and securing new revenue and growth through eCommerce platforms. With over 12 years marketing experience, Tara specialises in platform growth, accelerating customer volume and value. Tara holds a Masters of Commerce and a Bachelor or Commerce (Hons) majoring in Marketing and Advertising from Curtin University.
Mark is business leader with over 15 years experience having held positions across the UK, US & Australia. He has extensive experience leading sales and marketing organisations across diverse international organisations including Fairfax Media and LinkedIn where he was a founding member of the ANZ team. Mark has been responsible for scaling both regional and global teams across field sales and Sales Development functions at LinkedIn and has consulted start up businesses on sales and marketing strategy. Mark holds a MSc in Marketing and BA(Hons) in Business.

Pat is a non-executive director of Carsales.com.au, iSentia, APN Outdoor and Little Company of Mary Healthcare. Pat has held roles as Chief Operating Officer of PBL and Chief Operating Officer and Finance Director of PBL Media/Nine Entertainment Co and was the Chairman of NineMSN. Previous to this he was the Chief Financial Officer at Optus and held senior financial positions at Goodman Fielder, Burns Philp and PriceWaterhouse. Pat has also been a non-executive director of iSelect and iiNet. Pat is an active fundraiser for the charity, Dreams2Live4.
Andrew is the Investment Director for Larsen Ventures, an early investor in HealthEngine. Andrew holds a Bachelor in Computer Science, a Masters in Computer Security and an MBA. He is also a director on the boards of SEQTA, Cape Lodge, Benchmark Specialist Property Managers and Sync Labs.
Pieter joined Sequoia in 2014 and advises on investments across Consumer Internet, Mobile, Fintech and Software companies in Southeast Asia. He currently serves on the Board of Nugit, Funding Societies, 90 Seconds, Fave and HealthEngine and also works closely with Zilingo and Sirion Labs. Pieter holds an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he specialized in Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital.
Matthew is a Managing Director at Telstra Ventures. He has worked with 70+ global venture-backed companies, many having achieved successful acquisitions and IPOs. Previously, Matthew was a Founder and General Partner at Accede Venture Partners; head of the venture capital team at Deutsche Bank Capital Partners, Australia; and a founding team member of the venture capital team at Macquarie Bank.
Alexander is an experienced Head Of Investment with a demonstrated history of working in the broadcast media industry. Skilled in Equity Research, Analytical Skills, Investment Banking, Equities, and Valuation. Strong business development professional with a Master’s degree focused in Accounting from Curtin University of Technology.

Dr Andrew Miller (MBBS LLB(Hons) FANZCA FACLM FAICD)
A specialist anaesthetist in private practice and legally qualified. Andrew is a Federal Councillor AMA, Immediate Past President AMA (WA) and a director and honorary treasurer of The Australian Society of Anaesthetists. Andrew is also a board member of MDA National, one of Australia’s largest Medical Indemnity organisations.
These organisations operate in the areas of medical indemnity, policy and advocacy for the medical profession. Andrew is also a director of several commercial enterprises in the health and technology sectors and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. His legal education has also led to involvement in governance and strategy for national ‘not for profits’ organisations.
Jas Streten, Australian Patients Association Representative
Jas is currently General Manager of APA (Australian Patients Association) and previously held senior management positions in the private sector across a number of business functions including Sales, Operations and Logistics. He is a board member of two community organisations, Deputy Chair of the Community Advisory Committee, The Innovation Committee and Specialist Clinics committees at a Melbourne Public Hospital, membership of Consumer Health Forum and Health Issues Centre. He has volunteered with Margaret Oates Soup Van, Oznam House, Ruckers Hill Aged Care, Housing for the Aged Action Group and Migrant Tutoring through Melbourne Polytechnic. He has Chaired and presented at conferences that cover safety in hospitals, caring for older people, improving consumer engagement in Healthcare.
Dr John Aloizos (AM MBBS FRACGP FAICD)
John is an advocate for patient safety, quality improvement and equity of access in healthcare and an active general practitioner at Upper Mt Gravatt, Brisbane since 1977. His current roles include Australian Digital Health Agency – Senior Clinical Reference Lead and Honorary Member NPS MedicineWise. In 2003, John was honoured as a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia by the Australian Government for services to medicine, particularly medical administration, and the Australian Divisions of General Practice. Fellow of the RACGP and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He simultaneously holds board positions as Chairman Garden City Medical Services Pty Ltd, Chairman Inala Primary Care Ltd, Non-executive Director Attune Hearing Pty Ltd, Non-executive Director Tonic Health Media Pty Ltd. John has also held previous positions such as Heart Foundation, member Cardiovascular Health Advisory Committee (2007 – 2018), Chairman Best Doctors Australasian Medical Advisory Board (2009 – 2018).
Barry is an experienced tech entrepreneur, advisor and physiotherapist by profession with an interest in preventative health, physician-led team-based care, and sports medicine. He is a long-term thinker and primarily involved in industry-scale digital transformation projects and commercialising data-driven emerging technologies with global potential.
He currently serves as an advisor to multiple organisations globally ranging from high growth startups, non-for-profits to large corporations.
Barry is a co-founder and CEO of HealthAide (Phyto, Inc), specialist e-commerce startup for health tech solutions with physical pop up shops, supported by expert reviews and health coaching services. Phyto, Inc is a graduate of the 2017 MAP Velocity Program (University of Melbourne) and Melbourne Health Accelerator (Royal Melbourne Hospital).
He is the Innovation Advisor for the Australian Physiotherapy Association, the peak body of physiotherapy representing the interests of over 26, 000 members in Australia. He is a Mentor at Health 2.0 and the Founder Institute, the world’s premier startup launch program based in Silicon Valley for talented entrepreneurs and promising startups across the world.
Dr Amanda Phoon-Nguyen (RACDS)
Dr Amanda Phoon Nguyen is a final year registrar in Oral Medicine at the UWA Dental School, University of Western Australia. Before undertaking specialist training, Amanda graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Dental Science, served in the Royal Australian Navy as a Dental officer and worked as a dentist in both public and private practice in Western Australia.
Amanda is Editor of the College News of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (General Stream), and serves as a mentor in the MRACDS program. In 2017, Amanda completed her Certificate of Advanced Dental Leadership. Amanda holds positions on the ADA WA Dental Continuing Professional Development committee, the Western Australia regional committee for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, the UWA Dental School research committee, and is Treasurer and committee member of the WA local organizing committee of the International Association for Dental Research. In her spare time, she volunteers for the Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation.
